As the primary web developer I implement new features, optimize database queries and structure, refactor legacy code, and perform other associated tasks, including setting up remote backups, installing server upgraded and improving site performance. movieinsider.com currently has 2M unique visitors and 11M page views per month.

Results: Established development processes to reduce bugs and improved site stability, lifted code quantity to ease future developments, helped steer product direction through technical knowledge, and increased mobile traffic.

I planned and carried out a Linux server and Web Edition CMS update, and provide ongoing maintenance reports and upgrades.

Results: Successfully upgraded server and CMS, and eliminated previous stability concerns through regular maintenance.

As part of a volunteer team at a Charity IT Hackathon I helped build a web-based order tracking system. The order system includes individual charity user logins, admin login for managing orders/charities/users, submission of orders via email, and export of data for reporting. I continue to provide ongoing development and support for the order system.

Results: Successfully developed, deployed, and maintained order tracking system which has revolutionized the way that KCA operates.

With the help of a volunteer designer I planned, developed and host a website that can be managed via a simple content management system. I continue to provide ongoing development and support for the website.

Results: Established professional web presence to aid with funding and recruitment activities.

Some of my Bluetwist projects include: a web-based project management tool for internal use; a library for integration with the Xero Accounting API; a system for automated billing and renewal of domain names; integrating with a community water supply system to provide graphing of current and historical data, and email alerts based on incoming data; modification and extension of existing legacy web applications; and customizing, configuring, and maintaining installations of CiviCRM, Drupal, Magento, and SilverStripe.

Results: Consistently built and delivered web applications on time, to specification, and within budget.

I performed a security audit and implemented fixes for a bespoke CMS. I also refactored and updated the legacy site layout into a modern and mobile-friendly design.

Results: Secured site against prevalent web vulnerabilities, and improved user experience for mobile visitors.

I set-up, configured and customized a Wordpress installation for lisagoller.com. This included theme modifications, import of existing blog content, and moving web hosts.

Results: Combined blog and marketing website, re-themed website with modern mobile-friendly layout, and increased web traffic.

I planned, tested and upgraded an existing Moodle installation, which included integration with CMS and forum software. This included modifications, bug fixes, and providing support. I then managed the migration of the installation to a new hosted platform, and set up integration with LDAP.

Results: Successfully completed site upgrade and migration on schedule and with minimal downtime.

I worked as part of a team on a large variety of projects, for example: auditing and fixing security vulnerabilities in existing code; creating contests for family.ca; building galleries for HBO Canada, and The Movie Network; and building a blog engine for HBO Canada.

Results: Developed multiple projects concurrently while working both independently and as a team member.

going.com / AOL (2006 - 2011)

I was a member of a small engineering team which developed and maintained a localized, events based, social networking website. The site operated in 30 cities across the U.S.A., had 900K registered users and up to 15M page views per month. I had a wide range of responsibilities including database design and optimization, application level architecture and implementation and user interface development. I also provided detailed work estimates based on feature specification documents and consistently completed the tasks within the estimated time frame. AOL acquired going.com in June 2009.

Results: Built and scaled social network to 900K registered users and 15M page views per month.
